- You need to have a very honest conversation with yourself and learn the techniques to deal with worrying habits. If you don’t have time for your good health your bad health will win.
- You need downtime in order to perform at your best. When you need to fire up your body, it has to be ready.
- The trouble with taking exercise is finding mindfulness. You may build fitness in your body but you can’t switch your mind off. What are you thinking about on that rowing machine? You have got to be present.
- Are you stretching enough? You need strength, flexibility and aerobic activity – and you don’t have to do a lot to make a difference.
- Can’t switch off? Choose a hobby that’s mindful and all-encompassing. Find something distracting like an adult colouring book. They’re not airy fairy, they can really work.
- We know we need a good night’s sleep. Do something so you don’t need to take a think about work for two hours prior to getting into bed.
- Practice mindful eating. Look, smell, taste, chew, notice the texture and see how it changes in your mouth. That is how we should be eating every meal.
- Build a life you don’t need to take a holiday from, rather than thinking ‘just two weeks to go and I’m on that plane…’.
- I like a motivational quote and this is one of my favourites. Albert Einstein said: “Strive not to be successful but rather to be of value.”
